That's the King Herod you know from the Bible. ![]() There is some plot I left out here-Ana was being groomed for seduction by Herod Antipas. Jesus stands between her and the mob, and promises to marry her, which takes the wind out of the sails of the mob and they leave. When last we left Ana, she was being stoned in the marketplace for being an unmarried widow-her betrothed died before the actual marriage ceremony. Let's pick up the story after the first quarter previously reviewed. Because what I had heard definitely set my expectations, and then the book profoundly failed to meet them. I am wondering about whether this book is really this disappointing, or if it has to do with my expectations of it. ![]()
